How should I pay for my vacation package?
We recommend credit cards for your protection. We also accept money orders, cashiers checks, and personal checks ($50.00) check fee for all returned checks.
How far in advance should I book a cruise?
You should book as far in advance as possible in order to receive the best discounts and stateroom location. Waiting last minute may get you a good deal but what about the cabin location? Why get stuck on the bottom or in the front where all the noise and vibration is, if you hit rough seas the front is the worst place to be. Book early and in most cases if the rate does drop you will be compensated in some way. Compensation varies with each cruise line.
What about trip insurance?
We STRONGLY recommend trip cancellation insurance to protect your vacation investment. You've just spent alot for your vacation and should something happen either before or during your trip you want the peace of mind knowing your trip is insured. The cost of insurance is very minimal so don't let a few dollars more ruin your vacation. I know of a gentleman who did not spend the extra $100pp for his vacation and while on his trip he needed to get back to the U.S. due to a life and death medical problem and it cost him $30,000 had he bought the insurance he would not have had to pay the extra cost.
What is Proof of Citizenship?
Most cruises visit the ports of many different countries and the cruise line will normally send you out the required forms, However it is still your responsibility to have the correct forms and visas required to visit these countries. Since 9-11 homeland security requires Proof of United States Citizenship in the forms of:
- The required form of Proof of Citizenship is a valid PASSPORT only.
- For U.S. citizens, re-entry into the United States beginning June 1, 2009 will be a valid passport.
- For Non U.S citizens, please be sure you are bringing the correct form of documentation for all the countries you will be visiting. If you are not sure, contact ZIAR VISA SERVICES at (800-683-0119) or your local consulate.
For passports or Visa visit www.americanpassport.com. check out our travel resourses page for more info.
It is the sole responsibility of the passenger to obtain, and have available when necessary, the appropriate and valid travel documents such as Passports & Visa's etc. that are necessary for the entry into the countries you will be visiting. Ocean One will not be held liable or responsible should you fail to obtain any of the above documentation and are denied boarding of any airlines or cruise ships or denied entry at any International Border crossing.
What about Tipping?
Tipping is at the discretion of the passenger and should reflect the service that you have received during your cruise. Most cruise lines will now allow you to pay your gratuities in advance of your cruise or they will add them to your shipboard account during your cruise. The suggested tip is per passenger per day (children included) and is as follows: Cabin Stewards and Waiters - $3.50; Assistant Waiters - $2.00; Maitre'D or Head Waiters - $1.00. All suggested tips are on a per person, per day basis. For example, on a 7-day cruise the standard tip would be $140 per couple. Superior cruise lines may be as much as $25 per person per day. |
